Favorite Track: "Oh Comely"
This is such a great album. It flows together almost like one big song which is something I really like in an album. The album is full of emotion, much of which is brought out in Jeff Mangum's voice, but also in the lyrics themselves. The horns which are used in some of the songs also add a lot to the mood. The lyrics are quite strange, and Mangum's vocal interpretation bends them sometimes beyond recognition. "Oh Comely" is one of my favorite songs from any band. For as different as this album is from anything I've listened to, I grew to like it almost immediately. I think there is also something to be said for its rough texture and definite lack of production. It almost emphasizes the mood of the album and keeps you focused on the substance of the music.
